LNG-transporters suffer from rising prices
There is a problem with the rising prices of LNG at the gas station. Transporters with LNG trucks are burdened by the high prices at the pump. The increasing rates/tariffs for natural gas are out of control and a drop in prices is not expected soon.
A year ago, you had to pay € 0.84 cent for one kilo LNG. If you compare this with the current prices of suppliers like Pitpoint , a whopping € 2.40. You almost can’t believe it. After a gradual increase in the first half of 2021, the price has doubled in the past six months.
There are more than 800 LNG trucks in the Netherlands, which are paying this price. Also, the purchase price of a LNG trucks is about 30% to 50% higher than that of diesel trucks. In the Netherlands, the unwritten rule has been that LNG per kilo is 20 cents cheaper than diesel. The underlying reason why this rule is so important, is to make LNG more profitable.
