Long-term contract rates in container liner shipping continue to be extremely high, according to the Norwegian sea freight data platform Xeneta based on new statistics for the month of April.
The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI), the index that keeps a finger on the pulse of global spot prices, broke through the 3,000 point mark for the first time in its history on Friday. The SCFI is now at 3,100 points, an increase of 120 points compared to a week ago. A year ago, the index was at 800 points.
